2024 marks our 5th Annual Bob Marley Birthday Tribute Benefit show. Sunday February 4th at Deep Dive in Ithaca, NY. This is an all ages family friendly event. Children must me supervised by a parent or guardian, please no horseplay or running around the Deep Dive . Doors open at 4pm. We are featuring Jamaican food by West Indies Flavor and drinks (non alcoholic too). Bands from different genres are playing Bob Marley songs in their respective genres to celebrate his Birthday. Lots of Singers and Players of Instruments have been influenced by the works of Bob Marley. This gives us a great opportunity to get people together from many genres of music to pay tribute. Join us as we take a journey from some of our favorite Ithaca artists performing their versions of Bob tunes. We are excited to present The Notorious String Busters with their String Bustin’ hip breakin bluegrass style, Kite String a a four piece rock band and Li’l Anne and Hot Cayenne taking it to the Zydeco dance world. DJ Mike Judah from Ithaca College radio 92 WICB’s Reggae Explosions will be spinning tracks as Chacha (Mosaic Foundation, New Planets and Scuba Jerry) and SingTrece (SingTrece and Stone Cold Miracle) serenade us with their tribute to Robert Nesta Marley Born Feb 6 1945.

As in years past we are benefiting the Wetlands Restoration Project.

They have been doing great work. Part of their intention is to bring the land back to its original ecosystems using the wisdom and teachings of the native Gayo’goho:no’. They reintroduce native wetlands plants, clean up trash from the Cayuga Inlet, remove destructive invasive species and collect water samples to test.

They reintroduce native cattail plants from other wetland areas in the region back into the inlet. Cattail filters nitrogen and phosphorus from the water. This is a way of combating harmful algae blooms caused by industrialization and the lack of protective wetlands ecosystems.

By engaging in this work, the youth can reclaim a connection with nature and a connection with others. We believe that by being of service to the Earth, this action heals relationships between peoples.

Come down to the Deep Dive and enjoy some Jamaican food from West Indies Flavor, dance to the music, peruse and bid on the silent auction full of items donated by our amazing commUNITY. Items from cafe’s, breweries, restaurants, local shops, wineries, local artists and so much more. All to support our most precious local resource Cayuga Lake.
