Sun Parade

Sun Parade is a 5-piece psychedelic pop-fusing rock and roll band with deep grooves and sizzling harmonies from Northampton, Massachusetts. The band is songwriters Chris Marlon Jennings and Jeff Lewis, in addition to Karl Helander (drums), Niko Lapinski (bass), and Eli Salus-Kleiner (keyboards)

In 2007 Chris Jennings and Jeff Lewis struck an instant connection at a party in Maine through their mutual love of The Beatles. The pair joined forces in Northampton Massachusetts in 2011 to support Chris’ debut release EP “The Sun Parade” which quickly led to their first collaborative LP release “Yossis” in 2012. Subsequently, the band self-released the EP “Heart’s Out” in 2014, “Shuggy Mtn Breakdown” in 2017 and “Treats for Terry” in 2021. Sun Parade is currently producing a new record with Ian Hersey which is set to be released in 2023.

Sun Parade has done direct support for Lake Street Dive, Felice Brothers, Brazilian Girls, Dr. Dog, Rogue Wave, Martin Sexton, Illiterate Light, Big Thief and Grace Potter.

“The guys can harmonize like the Beach Boys on acid ... They sound like the psychedelic ’60s, the indie ’80s, and the electro-pop boom of the aughts. If you like, well, rock ’n’ roll, you’ll like Sun Parade.” – Jed Gottlieb, Boston Herald

“Sun Parade have a time-tripping, atmospheric sound of their own on songs like, “Steal My Thunder,” from the band’s 2018 album,

“Shuggy Mtn Breakdown,” the band displays a ’70s musicality with vocals tiptoeing into the ’80s and an audio layer of mid-’90s grunge. On their new single, the coming-of-age tale, “Young Adult,” Sun Parade deploy Bowie-esque lyrics and harmonies reminiscent of The Turtles: “... hanging around in the outer space/ it’s looking up, you’re in tip top shape/ You’re a young adult, a big American baby/ You don’t like the things you don’t understand.” As an expression of youthful angst and a dig at American exceptionalism, “Young Adult” is timeless. - Freddie Zandt / PureHoney Magazine

“Shuggy Mtn Breakdown is a kaleidoscopic vision quest through idyllic and intrinsic melodies that feels like the final breaths of warm summer air.” - Joel Funk, Substream Magazine

"A hook line and sinker winner of ragged mischief and melody. Like Dr. Dog, Delta Spirit and Islands, Sun Parade offers a candid approach to music that makes them endearing." - Glide Magazine

"Crafting the kinds of traditional guitar-pop songs that people might still be singing 50 years down the road..." - National Public Radio, Songs We Love

LongStory

Acoustic Soul Anti-Pop Jazz Songwriter/Performer since the age of 12. Being born in the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in south eastern Ohio, folk Americana influences were most accessible, and established early writing styles. Though, he sought out Motown artists, reggae, punk/ska, hip hop and found idols in the likes of Tom Waits, Michael Jackson and Black Thought of The Roots. Upon moving to Philadelphia, PA the summer before high school, skateboarder turned freestyle rapper, Emerson B* (now LongStory) decided to incorporate his acoustic guitar in a hip hop soul songwriter fusion that would later lead him to frontman funk jazz bands, live hip hop groups, features on rap records and a multitude of projects built around his vocal versatility. Such acts include Rare-Faction, Swift Technique, DysFunk Fam, Sassafraz, Bright At Night, and many more. Now living in Ithaca, NY and never letting go of his foundational love for writing and performing with guitar in hand. LongStory is rebuilding his sound and message post pandemic, with songs about love, self reflection, challenges with addiction, society and lots of fun stuff too. Whether playing alone or accompanied by fellow musicians, he will keep you guessing while keeping you dancing! Don’t miss the next chapter.
